ISSUE:
At an owner's request, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will issue a letter approving the deactivation of their airbag(s). For this reason, you may be contacted by an owner, with a letter from NHTSA authorizing the deactivation of one or both airbags. Such letters are addressed to a specific person with a specific address, but do NOT mention any specific vehicle or VIN. This bulletin provides procedures to accommodate these authorizations. The function of the airbag system can be restored at any time.
ACTION:
Deactivate the Airbag Restraint System ONLY if the customer can present an original letter of authorization from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) (sample attached).
PARTS INFORMATION:
Airbag Restraint System deactivation service kits are NOT currently available to Jaguar dealers, but kit contents can be provided against specific requests. Refer to Administration Bulletin 6-58 for information on obtaining the necessary parts.

Sedan Range - Deactivate passenger and driver side airbag 1.25 hrs.
Sedan Range - Deactivate one airbag only 0.75 hrs.

THIS IS A CUSTOMER PAY-FOR-SERVICE PROGRAM. THERE IS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THIS OPERATION.
