ISSUE:
Some 1995 MY Sedan Range vehicles within the above VIN range may experience squeaking from the airbag door rubbing against the adjacent fascia panel veneer. This condition can be repaired by realigning the deployment door.
ACTION:
After verifying a customer complaint of squeaking from the airbag deployment door, proceed as follows:
ADJUSTING AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT DOOR CLEARANCES
^ Remove the underdash liner (up to VIN 739426) or the glove box (VIN 739427-ON),
^ Vertical adjustment of the door assembly is made by loosening the four horizontal bolts (Illustration 1).
^ Horizontal adjustment of the door assembly is made by loosening the four vertical bolts (Illustration 1). These bolts allow adjustment both left and right and in and out.
^ Torque the bolts to 39- 44 lb. inches (4.5 - 5 Nm)
^ When installing the airbag door, note the following:
- the door should be centered in the opening
- the bottom trim roll of the door must align with the bottom trim roll of the fascia.
- the door veneer must be level with the adjacent fascia panel veneer at all points.
