ISSUE:
XJR and XJ12 vehicles are equipped with the Powertrain 4L80-E automatic transmission. The present mandatory tool CBW. IC (Test gauge, flexible hose and fitting) is not suited for the full range of pressure tests.
The maximum gauge reading available on the above gauge is 300 PSI. However, in reverse gear, a test pressure of approximately 340 PSI may be developed within the 4L80-E Automatic Transmission, which is beyond the capacity of the present tool.
ACTION:
A new pressure gauge (JD 204) capable of reading 0 - 400 PSI is now available, which may be used instead of the present gauge. This gauge is still connected via the same flexible hose and fitting from toolset CBW.1C. JD 204 allows the full range of pressure tests to be carried out on the automatic transmission. While the new gauge is NOT classified as a Mandatory Tool, it is strongly recommended that dealers should purchase one for use when required. The gauge is available through the Jaguar Essential Tools Program.
