Deactivating Passenger Side Airbag
1. Connect PDU and check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes.2. If DTC's are present, diagnose and repair faults separately as necessary prior to deactivation.
3. Disconnect the PDU and switch the ignition key off.
4. Disconnect the battery negative cable and wait for at least 1 minute to allow the backup power supply of the diagnostic module to discharge.
5. Remove passenger side underscuttle/kneebolster.
6. Remove connector ABS (Illustration 1) from the bracket forward of the yellow sheath.
7. Disconnect airbag harness connector AB8 from the airbag unit.
8. Install the airbag shunt on the vehicle harness side of connector AB8.
9. Secure the shunt via push pin to the bracket.
10. Install a blanking plug or tape over the airbag connector.
11. Secure the airbag connector to the vehicle harness using a tie strap.
12. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
13. Turn the ignition on and allow the Airbag/SRS to complete the self test.
14. Connect PDU and check for DTCs.
15. If DTCs are present, repair as necessary with the exception of airbag replacement. If no DTCs are present, reinstall the underscuttle /kneebolster.
16. Reset the clock and install the deactivation stickers on the sunvisors.
