C1: CARRY OUT AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR COMPONENT CHECK

1. Switch the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Remove the accelerator pedal.
3. Measure the resistance across pin 3, (YU) and pin 7, (WU) with the pedal released and with the pedal at full throttle.

Is the resistance across pin 3 and pin 2 between 3070 ohms and 6490 ohms with the pedal released and between 1830 ohms and 4210 ohms with the pedal at full throttle?

Yes
Go to C2

No
INSTALL a new throttle pedal. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.

C2: CARRY OUT AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR COMPONENT CHECK

1. Measure the resistance across pin 3, (YU) and pin 2, (NR).

Is the resistance across pin 3 and pin 2 between 2740 ohms and 5110 ohms?

Yes
Go to C3

No
INSTALL a new throttle pedal. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.

C3: CARRY OUT AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR COMPONENT CHECK

1. Measure the resistance across pin 2, (NR) and pin 7, (WU).

Is the resistance across pin 2 and pin 7 between 1350 ohm and 5110 ohms with the pedal released and between 2580 ohms and 5600 ohms with the pedal at full throttle?

Yes
Go to C4

No
INSTALL a new throttle pedal. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.

C4: CHECK THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION WIRE (YU) FOR OPEN

1. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM).
2. Measure the continuity of the accelerator pedal position sensor between connector CA88 pin 3, (YU) and the powertrain control module electrical connector FH1-55, (YU).

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
REPAIR the wire between the accelerator pedal position sensor harness CA88 pin 3, (YU) and the powertrain control module electrical connector FH1-55, (YU). INSTALL the powertrain control module. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
Go to C5

C5: CHECK THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION WIRE (YU) FOR SHORT TO GROUND

1. Measure the resistance between the accelerator pedal position wire connector CA88 pin 3, (YU) and ground.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
REPAIR the wire between the accelerator pedal position sensor harness CA88 pin 3, (YU) and the powertrain control module electrical connector FH1-55, (YU). INSTALL the powertrain control module. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
Go to C6

C6: CHECK THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION WIRE (WU) FOR OPEN

1. Measure the continuity of the accelerator pedal position sensor between connector CA88 pin 7, (WU) and the powertrain control module electrical connector FH1-16, (WU).

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
REPAIR the wire between the accelerator pedal position sensor harness CA88 pin 7, (WU) and the powertrain control module electrical connector FH1-16, (WU). INSTALL the powertrain control module. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
