Vehicles With 3.0L V6 Exchange Engines - Potential Thrust Bearing Failure - Service Action S157

Issue:

A small number of V6 remanufactured engines have been subjected to an out-of-balance condition during the hot test procedure in the remanufacturing process and as a result may exhibit crankshaft thrust bearing failure that could lead to subsequent engine failure.

Action:

Contact the current user of the affected vehicles and request that the vehicle be made available, at the current user's earliest convenience, for the engine to be replaced. A list of vehicles fitted with the exchange engines is included in this bulletin.

For the removal and partial disassembly procedure, see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM, section: 303-01A, SRO 12.41.01 and 12.41.02.

As this repair is going to take some time to complete you will need to consider the level of courtesy service that should be provided to customers when performing this Service Action.
