A : Ignition Coils - P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356
A1: CHECK THE IGNITION COIL SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT
1. Disconnect the appropriate A bank ignition coil electrical connector. Measure the voltage between:
- PI28 pin 2, (BY) and GROUND.
- PI29 pin 2, (BU) and GROUND.
- PI31 pin 2, (BO) and GROUND.
2. Disconnect the appropriate B bank ignition coil electrical connector. Measure the voltage between:
- PI32 pin 2, (BG) and GROUND.
- PI33 pin 2, (BR) and GROUND.
- PI34 pin 2, (BW) and GROUND.
3. Switch the ignition to the RUN position.
Is the voltage greater than 10.5 Volts?
Yes
Go to A2
No
REPAIR the relevant ignition coil supply voltage circuit. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
A2: CHECK THE IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE
NOTE: The recorded DTC will indicate which cylinder(s) require testing.
1. Switch the ignition to the OFF position.
2. With the ignition coil electrical connector(s) PI28, PI29, PI31, PI32, PI33 and PI34 disconnected, measure the resistance between the ignition coil pins.
Is the resistance between 0.50 and 1.00 Ohms?
Yes
Go to A3
No
INSTALL a new ignition coil as required. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
A3: CHECK THE CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE PCM AND THE IGNITION COIL
1. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector, PI1 at the PCM.
2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector(s) PI28, PI29, PI31, PI32, PI33, and PI34.
3. Check the GROUND supply circuit continuity between ignition coil electrical connector(s) and the engine harness electrical connector at the PCM:
- PI28 pin 1, (BY) and PI1 pin 31, (BY)
- PI29 pin 1, (BU) and PI1 pin 01, (BU)
- PI31 pin 1, (BO) and PI1 pin 22, (BO)
- PI32 pin 1, (BG) and PI1 pin 13, (BG)
- PI33 pin 1, (BR) and PI1 pin 23, (BR)
- PI34 pin 1, (BW) and PI1 pin 12, (BW)
Is the resistance less than 0.5 Ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit between the PCM and the ignition coil. CLEAR DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
