Workshop Procedure

1. Open luggage compartment.

2. Remove passenger front seat. (See Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section 501-10, SRO 76.70.01).

Note:
Prior to removing the seat from the vehicle, ensure that the seat (seat slide) is in the fully rearward position and the height riser (seat) is in its highest position.

3. Disconnect vehicle battery. (See Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section 414-01, SRO 86.15.19-1998-99 MY).

Warning:
After the battery has been disconnected, wait for one minute for the air bag system to disarm.

4. Undo and remove seat slide assembly securing bolts.

5. Displace and remove seatbelt anchor brackets.

6. Disconnect seat cushion tilt motor drive cables.

7. Disconnect seat module electrical connectors.

8. Displace relay electrical connector from seat slide assembly.

9. Displace seat harness fir tree fixings from seat slide assembly.

10. Place seat slide assembly to one side.





11. Working on left hand seat slide, displace and remove star locking washer from bun gee cord rear mounting post (Illustration 1).





12. Displace bungee cord from rear mounting post (Illustration 2).





13. Using suitable pry bar, lever bungee cord metal clasp from front mounting post (Illustration 3).





14. Displace freed bungee cord from seat slider (Illustration 4).





15. Feed new bungee cord into seat rail (Illustration 5).

16. Align bungee cord metal clasp to front fixing post.





17. Using an appropriate drift, tap metal clasp fully over front fixing post (Illustration 6).





18. Using an appropriate tool, peen over top of fixing post to secure metal clasp (Illustration 7).

19. Repeat Workshop Procedure from step 11 to 18 on right hand seat slide.

20. Align seat slider assembly to seat.

21. Reinstall seat harness fir tree fasteners to seat slide assembly.

22. Reinstall relay base connector to seat slider assembly.

23. Reconnect seat motor electrical connectors.

24. Reconnect seat cushion tilt motor drive cables.

25. Realign seat belt anchor brackets to seat slider assembly.

26. Fit but do not fully tighten seat slide assembly securing bolts.

27. Final tighten all securing bolts.

28. Place passenger seat into vehicle.

29. Temporarily reconnect seat harness connector.

30. Temporarily reconnect vehicle battery. (See Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section 414-01, SRO 86.15.15).





31. Drive seat frame motor to required position so that access to rear bungee mounting post can be gained through cutout in seat slider (Illustration 8).

32. Disconnect vehicle battery. (See Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section 414-01, SRO 86.15.19).

Warning:
After the battery has been disconnected, wait for one minute for the air bag system to disarm.

33. Disconnect seat harness connector.

34. Remove seat assembly from vehicle and place to one side.





35. Working on left hand seat slide and using appropriate hooked tool, pull rear end of bungee cord along inside of seat slider and attach to rear mounting post (Illustration 9).

36. Align new star locking washer to rear mounting post.





37. Using an appropriate tool, tap star locking washer fully over rear fixing post (Illustration 10).

38. Repeat Workshop Procedure from step 35 to 37 on right hand seat slide.

39. Reinstall passenger seat into vehicle. (See Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section 501-10, SRO 76.70.01).

40. Reconnect vehicle battery. (See Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM section 414-01, SRO 86.15.15).

41. Close luggage compartment.

Note:
It should be noted that all displaced oils and fluids should be disposed of locally, ensuring compliance with Local Authority legislation and Health and Safety guidelines.
