Draft Welt Loose - Front Door Opening - Install Edge Finisher
Issue:
On some 1998-2002 MY V8 XJ Series vehicles within the above VIN ranges, the draft welt for the front door opening may come loose at the top front comer.
To eliminate this concern, an edge finisher can be fitted on the A-post door flange. The draft welt is then pressed over the edge finisher.
Action:
In case of a customer complaint of the above condition, follow the procedure outlined below.
MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
1. Displace draft welt from top of front door aperture A-post body flange (Illustration 1).
2. Using suitable strips, cut two pieces of edge finisher (DAC 4027/16) to 80 mm length (item 1. Illustration 2).
3. Install and seat sized length of edge finisher to top of front door aperture A-post body flange (Illustration 3).
Note: Be careful not to spread out edge finisher.
4. Squeeze displaced draft welt together.
5. Install and seat draft welt to front door aperture a-post body flange (Illustration 4).
6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 on the opposite side of the vehicle.
