Fuse Rating Change From 30 to 15 Amp - Ignition Supply - Service Action S918

Issue:

On manual transmission X-TYPE vehicles, within the above VIN range, the ignition supply fuse located in the power distribution fuse box is over rated and does not provide adequate protection for the circuit involved.

Action:

At the next service opportunity, replace the ignition supply fuse with a lower rated fuse on 2002 MY manual transmission X-TYPE vehicles within the above VIN range.

PROCEDURE

1. Open hood and fit fender protector covers.

2. Disconnect vehicle battery.

3. Displace and remove engine compartment fuse box cover.

4. Displace and remove 30 amp fuse (ignition supply) from position F28 of fuse box.

5. Install and seat 15 amp fuse to position F28 of fuse box.

6. Install and secure engine compartment fuse box cover.

7. Reconnect vehicle battery.

8. Remove fender protector covers.

9. Close hood.

CURRENT SYSTEM





Warranty claims should be submitted quoting S918 in place of the warranty fault code along with SRO 86 92 95 and the part number for the ignition supply fuse. This will result in a labor time allowance of 0.2 hours to replace the ignition supply fuse. Should a vehicle be brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken, an additional labor time allowance of 0.1 hours may be claimed quoting SRO 10 10 10 for drive in/drive out.

Warranty claims should be submitted quoting the information found in the table shown. This will result in payment of the slated time and, where applicable parts/miscellaneous expense codes as listed.

Drive in/drive out may only be claimed when the vehicle has been brought in for this action alone to be undertaken.

The SROs and parts listed above have been included for information only, there will be no requirement to enter the parts or SROs onto the claim.

NOTE:
Always perform a DCS claim search first to determine whether this service action has been performed on this vehicle. The warranty selection under the vehicle inquiry will give a listing of all claims against the vehicle. If S918 appears in the fault code field, do not perform this service action.

DCS DEALERS

Submit claims using the appropriate summary code for the vehicle model and work performed. Follow standard campaign submission procedures.

NON-DCS DEALERS

Submit claims on the Recall Campaign Summary form W-25. Enter the appropriate summary code for the vehicle model and work performed in the Repair Code column.

Do not use the W-1 warranty claim form.
