Squeaks & Rattles From Doors -
Install Modification kit -
Modification Procedure

Issue:
Some owners of 2002 MY X-TYPE vehicles within the above VIN range may complain about squeaks and rattles from the doors. A modification kit has been released to address these concerns.

Action:
In case of a customer complaint of squeaks and rattles from the doors on a 2002 MY X-TYPE vehicle within the above VIN range, perform the following procedure:

DOOR MODIFICATION PROCEDURE

1. Open doors.

2. Remove all four door trim pads for access.








3. Remove door trim pad fixing pins from front and rear door trim pads (Illustrations 1 and 2).

Note:
Observe position of green fixing pins in Illustrations 1 and 2 (shown by black arrows).

4. Remove door trim pad fixing grommets from doors.








Note:
Observe position of black grommets in Illustrations 3 and 4 (shown by black arrows).

5. Install new door trim pad fixing pins (noting original position of green fixing pins) into door trim pad.

6. Install new door trim pad fixing grommets into doors (noting original position of black grommets).

7. Check for good adhesion around water shedder Butyl path.

8. Install foam curtain into door trim pads.

9. Apply Krytox lubrication to front and rear edges of door trim pads.

10. Install door trim pads.

11. Close doors.
