Squeaking Noise - Servotronic Power Steering System Only - Repair Procedure

Remove and destroy Bulletin X1211-01, amended 02/06. Replace with this Bulletin.

Updated information is shown with black bars and asterisks.

Issue:

* On some 2002-04 MY X-TYPE vehicles equipped with Servotronic within the above VIN range, a squeaking noise may be apparent from the power assisted steering system when the steering wheel is rotated in either direction. The Servotronic rack can be identified by the electrical connector. The noise is caused by a seal inside the steering rack. The noise can emanate through the steering column and steering wheel, making it difficult to diagnose.*

This bulletin does not address any other PAS noises such as PAS pump or drive belt related noises.
