Link Lead Installation Procedure
1. Open door and luggage compartment and install fender and interior vehicle protection kit.2. Remove instrument panel lower trim panel, refer to Workshop Manual section: 501-12, SRO 76.46.11.
3. Displace white 12-way wiper switch connector from the retaining tang on the right hand side of the steering column, Illustration 1.
4. Disconnect the white 12-way wiper switch electrical connector.
5. Displace the anti-back-out device from the harness side connector.
6. Displace pin 9 (black).
7. Displace the white eight-way ignition switch connector from the retaining tang on the left hand side of the steering column, Illustration 2
8. Disconnect the eight-way ignition switch connector.
9. Displace anti-back-out device from the harness side connector.
10. Displace pin 3 (white/blue).
11. Place the new link lead to front.
12. Wrap the Part Number label for the new link lead around the lead and secure using suitable tape.
13. Insert the shortest wire from the link lead into the vacated cavity 3 in the eight-way connector (Illustration 3).
14. Close anti-back-out device of the eight-way connector.
15. Reconnect the eight-way connector.
16. Remove the male two-way connector from the link lead.
17. Displace the anti-back-out device.
18. Insert the white/blue wire previously removed from the eight-way connector pin 3 into the two-way connector (Illustration 4).
Note:
Ensure the white/blue wire is installed into the correct cavity to line up with the wire in the link lead.
19. Close the anti-back-out device.
20. Reconnect the two-way connector (Illustration 5).
21. Secure the two-way connector to the harness using a suitable harness tape to prevent potential rattle.
22. Reinstall the eight-way connector to the retaining tang.
23. Feed the link lead over the top of the steering column.
Note:
Ensure the link lead is free from potential damage from the column mechanism and any sharp edges.
24. Insert the remaining pin from the link lead into vacated cavity 9 of the 12-way connector (Illustration 6).
25. Close anti-back-out device.
26. Reconnect the 12-way connector.
27. Isolate and secure pin 9 (black), removed from the 12-way connector, to the harness using suitable harness tape.
28. Reinstall the 12-way connector to the retaining tang.
29. Reinstall the instrument panel lower trim panel.
30. Remove fender protectors and close luggage compartment.
31. Switch ignition to 'On'.
32. Check wipers function in all manual switch positions.
33. Switch ignition to 'Off'.
34. Turn sidelamps on: check sidelamps function with ignition turned to 'Off'.
35. Turn sidelamps off.
36. Remove vehicle interior protection kit and close door.
