Powertrain Assembly Jack
Removal
All Vehicles
1. Remove the steering column lower retaining bolt.
2. Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Powertrain Management.
3. Reclaim the air conditioning refrigerant. For additional information, refer to Heating and AC.
4. Remove the front wheels and tires. For additional information, refer to Steering and Suspension.
5. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling Systems.
6. CAUTION: To prevent the vehicle becoming unstable when the engine and transmission assemble are removed, install the vehicle tie-down straps.
NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.
Install the front vehicle tie down strap.
7. CAUTION: To prevent the vehicle becoming unstable when the engine and transmission assemble are removed, install the vehicle tie-down straps.

Install the rear vehicle tie down strap.
8. NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.
Remove the splash shield.
9. NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Detach the brake caliper assembly.
10. NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Detach the brake pipe.
11. NOTE: Support the brake caliper assembly using tie straps.

Reposition and attach the brake caliper assembly.

Detach the anti-lock brake system (ABS) wheel speed sensor
13. NOTE: Left hand shown, right-hand similar.
Disconnect (ABS) wheel speed sensor
14. NOTE: Secure the (ABS) wheel speed sensor using tie straps.
NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Reposition and attach the (ABS) wheel speed sensor.
15. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. For additional information, refer to Cooling Systems.
16. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
17. Remove the front muffler. For additional information, refer to Exhaust Systems.
18. NOTE: Using a suitable blanking plug seal the tube and the compressor.
NOTE: Secure the compressor supply and return tubes using tie straps.
Detach the compressor supply and return tubes.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
19. Detach the coolant hose.
Vehicles With Automatic Transmission
20. Remove the selector cable shield.
21. Detach the selector cable.
22. NOTE: Secure the selector cable using tie straps.
Disconnect the selector cable.
23. Disconnect the automatic transmission electrical connectors.
All Vehicles
24. Lower the vehicle.
25. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Powertrain Management.
26. Remove the air filter intake pipe.
27. Detach the coolant hose.
28. Detach the coolant hose.
29. Detach the coolant hose.
30. Detach the battery cables.
Vehicles With Manual Transmission
31. NOTE: Upper selector cable shown, lower selector cable similar.
Detach the selector cable.
1 Press the button.
2 Detach the selector cable.
32. NOTE:
Secure the selector cables using tie straps.
Detach the selector cables.
33. CAUTION: If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
NOTE: Drain the fluid into a suitable container.
NOTE: Using a suitable blanking plug seal the pipe and the slave cylinder.
NOTE: Secure the clutch slave cylinder pipe using tie straps.
Disconnect the clutch slave cylinder pipe and secure to one side.
1 Detach the clutch slave cylinder pipe from the slave cylinder.
2 Detach the clutch cylinder from the retaining bracket.
34. Disconnect the reverse light switch electrical connector.
All Vehicles
35. Disconnect the electrical connector.
36. Disconnect the powertrain control module electrical connector.
37. Disconnect the ground cable.
38. NOTE: Drain the fluid into a suitable container.
NOTE: Using a suitable blanking plug seal the hose.
Detach the power steering hose.
39. Disconnect the spring lock coupling. For additional information, refer to Powertrain Management.
40. Detach the coolant pipe.
41. NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.
Detach the strut and spring assembly.
42. Raise the vehicle.
43. Install the special tool.
44. NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Position and adjust the special tool rear height adjuster.
45. NOTE: Right-hand shown, left-hand similar.
Position and adjust the special tool front height adjuster.
46. Position and adjust the special tool engine height adjusters.
47. Remove the engine support bracket.
48. Remove the transmission mount retaining nuts.
49. Remove the transmission mount.
50. NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Remove the front subframe reinforcement plate retaining bolts.
51. NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Remove the front subframe reinforcement plate.
52. NOTE: Left-hand shown, right-hand similar.
Detach the front subframe.
53. WARNING: ROTATE THE SPECIAL TOOL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT VALVE SLOWLY. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
Remove the engine.
- Rotate the special tool height adjustment valve counter clockwise.
54. Remove the automatic or manual transmission. For additional information, refer to Powertrain Management.
