Engine Control Module: Service and Repair



Engine Control Module (ECM)

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the cabin air filter.







3. Remove the engine compartment support.







4. Remove the cabin air filter housing retaining nut.







5. Remove the cabin air filter housing.







6. Remove the engine compartment panel.







7. NOTE: The powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connector retaining bolt remains captive in the electrical connector

Disconnect the PCM electrical connector.







8. Remove the passenger side instrument panel lower trim panel.







9. Remove the PCM.
- Remove the PCM retaining bracket.
- Release the PCM retaining tangs.
- Remove the PCM.

Installation

1. CAUTION: Make sure that the electrical connectors locate correctly in the powertrain control module. Do not force or overtighten the electrical connectors.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
