CONDITION SUMMARY:
REAR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS TRIM COMING LOOSE
Situation:
A concern may be reported that the rear quarter window glass trim is coming loose.
*This version has been issued to reflect a change in the Adhesive kit (C2S 42278) from Loctite 7253 to Terostat 8517H. Both products are acceptable to complete the Repair Procedure.*
Action:
Should a customer express concern, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to install a new glass trim and replace the acrylic tape with pumpable adhesive.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
INSTALL NEW REAR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS TRIM
1. ADDIV suitable masking tape around the rear quarter window to protect the paintwork. (Figure 1)
2. Remove and discard the rear quarter window glass trim.
3. Using Loctite 7063 and suitable lint free cloth, clean the rear quarter window glass trim body mating surface, ensuring the acrylic tape stays in position.
4. Using suitable pliers, remove the "tabs" from the new rear quarter window glass trim. (Figure 2)
5. Using Loctite 7063 and suitable lint free cloth, clean the new rear quarter window glass trim mating surface.
CAUTION:
*Terostat 8517H*, or Loctite 7253, applied to the new trim mating surface must be allowed to "cure" for 5 minutes prior to installation, and installed within 1 hour of application.
6. Using the swab supplied in the Adhesive kit, apply *Terostat 8517H* or Loctite 7253 to the new glass trim mating surface and allow to "cure" for at least 5 minutes.
NOTE:
The nozzle supplied with the Adhesive kit must be cut to give a bead of adhesive, of triangular section, having a base of 5 mm (3/16 in) and a height of 8 mm (5/16 in).
7. Cut the supplied nozzle to give a bead of adhesive, of triangular section, having a base of 5 mm (3/16 in) and a height of 8 mm (5/16 in).
NOTE:
To ease application of the Terostat 8599 adhesive, the cartridge can be placed in hot water for 15 minutes prior to opening.
8. Install the cut nozzle to the Terostat 8599 cartridge.
9. Apply the Terostat 8599 adhesive to the rear quarter window glass trim body mating surface acrylic tape, as illustrated in Figure 3.
10. Install and fully seat the new rear quarter window glass trim and remove any excess adhesive.
NOTE:
Once installed, the new rear quarter window glass trim must be allowed to "cure" for 1 hour.
11. Using suitable masking tape, secure the new rear quarter window glass trim in position and allow to "cure" for 1 hour. (Figure 4)
12. Carefully remove all the masking tape and clean area with Loctite 7063, using a lint free cloth.
NOTE:
The adhesive must be allowed to "fully cure" for 2 hours.
13. Leave the vehicle for 2 hours to allow the adhesive to "fully cure".
