'Moan' Noise from Rear Brakes When Moving in Reverse or Maneuvering Slowly - Repair Procedure
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
CONDITION SUMMARY:
A 'MOAN' NOISE IS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES WHEN MOVING IN REVERSE OR MANEUVERING SLOWLY
Situation:
A customer may report a concern of a moan noise coming from the rear brakes when moving in reverse or maneuvering slowly. The inner brake pads may be dragging.
Action:
Should a customer express this concern and the brake moan noise has been verified, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin and install a modified front bushing to each rear knuckle.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPLACE FRONT BUSHINGS ON REAR SUSPENSION KNUCKLES
1. Perform the following to one side of the vehicle:
NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows:
GTR Home > NAS > Service Information / X400 - X-TYPE/2005 > Workshop Manuals > Bookmark "Chassis/Suspension/204-02: Rear Suspension" Removal and Installation link "Wheel Knuckle Front Bushing (64.15.28)"
^ Refer to GTR section 204-02, operation 64.15.28 and remove the front bushing from the rear suspension knuckle.
NOTE:
The modified bushing is voided. The voids of the modified bushing must be installed with the correct orientation as illustrated in Figure 1.
^ Refer to GTR section 204-02, operation 64.15.28 and install a modified front bushing to the rear suspension knuckle, ensuring the voids in the bushing are correctly oriented. (Figure 1)
2. Repeat step 1 to the opposite side of the vehicle.
