Check Engine MIL/DTC P0341 And P1341 - V6 Engine - Repair Procedure
Remove and destroy Bulletin XT303-11 amended 06/05. Replace with this Bulletin.
Revisions are shown with asterisks and black bars.
Issue:
This Technical Bulletin has been issued to address customer concerns of the check engine Malfunction Indication Lamp (MIL) illuminating with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0341 (CMP sensor-Bank 1) or P1341 (CMP sensor-Bank 2) stored.
Action:
If after carrying out a diagnostic routine on Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) associated with DTC P0341 or P1341, the codes cannot be cleared, or there was no fault found, remove and check the resistance of the spark plugs. If the resistance is below 1k ohm, replace the spark plug. Follow the Service Instruction outlined below.
1. Remove ignition coil-on-plug (see Global Technical Reference GTR Workshop Manual, section: 303-07).
Note:
Note the position of the ignition coil-on-plug and spark plugs when removing them. Replace the spark plugs only if the spark plug is faulty.
2. Remove the spark plugs.
Note:
If any spark plug has a resistance of less than 1k ohm, replace the spark plug.
3. Check tip-to-tip resistance of all spark plugs, using a suitable ohm meter.
4. Install ignition coil-on-plug (see Global Technical Reference GTR Workshop Manual, section: 303-07).
5. Install spark plugs.
Note:
Ensure IDS is loaded with software release DVD 43 or later.
6. Clear DTSs using IDS.
