Oxygen Sensor Calibration - Repair
Issue:
Some 2006 S-TYPE vehicles within the above VIN range, may exhibit a concern of malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination and/or poor driveability, such as idle quality, hesitation, A/C inhibit at high ambient temperatures or poor performance. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P050B-85 (Cold start monitor), or DTCs P0131, P0151 (Upstream heated oxygen sensor circuit low voltage) may be present.
Cause:
The upstream heated oxygen sensor may experience sudden variations in temperature due to water droplets in the exhaust system. Under normal circumstances, this does not present an issue, but software calibration/sensor compatibility can result in the above DTCs being logged and the driveability issues described.
Action:
In case of a customer complaint of the above condition, refer to the procedures detailed in this bulletin.
Note:
Reprogramming the TCM will cause the driving style memory to be erased. It is advisable to inform the customer that the transmission will have been reset and may drive differently than expected until the TCM adapts to the customer's driving style.
VIN N52048 TO N55149
Vehicles in the VIN range N52048 to N55149 must have new sensors (C2P8810) installed and the engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM) calibrations updated using WDS CD 41 or higher if:
^ The ECM or TCM have been recently re-configured (not using disc 41 or higher).
^ An upstream oxygen sensor has been recently changed for any other customer concerns.
^ The vehicle has driveability issues as described in the summary section. The vehicle has DTCs stored as described in the summary section.
VIN N55150T0 N59816
Vehicles in the VIN range N55150 to N59816 must have only the engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM) calibrations updated using WDS CD 41 or higher if:
^ The ECM or TCM have been recently re-configured (not using disc 41 or higher).
^ The vehicle has driveability issues as described in the summary section.
^ The vehicle has DTCs stored as described in the summary section.
Note:
Vehicles from N59817 will have the new upstream oxygen sensor and calibrations installed.
