CONDITION SUMMARY:

"CLICK" HEARD DURING FRONT SEAT REAR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT

Situation:
A customer may report a concern of a "click" noise being heard during the downward travel of the rear height adjustment on a front seat. A metal washer on the attachment bolt for the rear height adjustment motor drive shaft may be contacting the guide leg.

Action:
Should a customer express this concern, verify the front seat (left-hand or right-hand) that is making the "click" noise and refer to Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to remove the metal washer from the affected seat.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REMOVE METAL WASHER FROM FRONT SEAT REAR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT MOTOR

NOTE:

1. Refer to GTR section 414-01 Battery Disconnect procedure and disconnect the battery ground.

2. Refer to GTR section 501-10 Front Seat operation 76.70.01 and remove the affected front seat.

3. Place the seat onto a suitable work surface.





4. Unhook bungee cords from the front seat base. (Figure 1) (FRONT of vehicle indicated by arrow)





5. Remove the outboard seat pivot bolt. (Figure 2) (FRONT of vehicle indicated by arrow)





6. Push seat track down to gain access to and remove the two spindle housing bolts. (Solid arrow in Figure 3)

7. Slide the black plastic cover off the spindle housing in the direction of the dashed arrow in Figure 3.

NOTE:
The nylon washer must remain in place on the drive shaft when the bolt is re-installed.





8. Remove the bolt at the end of the motor drive shaft to access the metal washer. (Figure 4)

9. Remove and discard the metal washer, ensuring that the nylon washer remains in place on the drive shaft. (Figure 4)

10. Install the bolt, ensuring that the nylon washer is in the correct position on the drive shaft, and tighten the bolt to 7 Nm (+/- 1 Nm) [5.2 lbf-ft (+/- 0.7 lbf-ft)]. (Figure 4)

11. Install the black plastic cover to the housing.

12. Align and install the two spindle housing bolts and tighten to 11 Nm (+/- 1 Nm) [8 lbf-ft (+/- 0.7 lbf-ft)]. (Figure 3)

13. Install the seat pivot bolt and tighten to 23 Nm (+/- 2.5 Nm) [17 lbf-ft (+/- 1.8 lbf-ft)]. (Figure 2)

14. Secure the bungee cords to the front seat base. (Figure 1)

15. Refer to GTR section 501-10 Front Seat operation 76.70.01 and install the repaired front seat.

16. Refer to GTR section 414-01 and connect the battery ground cable.
