Special Service Tools

Removal
All Vehicles
1. Reclaim the air conditioning refrigerant
2. Remove the automatic transmission





3. NOTE: Left hand shown, right hand similar.

Remove the engine mount retaining nuts.

Vehicles with supercharger





1. Detach the oil cooler lines.
^ Remove and discard the oil cooler O-ring





2. Remove the oil cooler inlet line.
^ Remove and discard the O-ring.





3. Remove the oil cooler outlet line.
^ Remove and discard the O-ring.

All vehicles





1. Disconnect the engine ground cable.





2. Attach the starter motor positive cable cover.





3. Detach the starter motor positive cable.





4. Detach the air conditioning compressor line.
^ Remove and discard the O-ring seals





5. CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized wheel nut. Excessive heat may cause damage to the wheel and wheel bearings.

Loosen the wheel nuts.





6. Remove the right hand wheel and tire assembly.





7. Remove the right hand fender splash shield.





8. Detach the ground cable.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the hood.
11. Remove the radiator assembly.
12. Remove the cabin air filter.





13. Remove the engine compartment support.





14. Remove the cabin air filter housing retaining nut.





15. Remove the cabin air filter housing.





16. Remove the engine compartment panel.





17. NOTE: The engine control module (ECM) electrical connector retaining bolt remains captive in the electrical connector.

Disconnect the ECM electrical connector.





18. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.





19. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.





20. Detach the engine harness electrical connector.
21. Remove the air cleaner.
22. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir.

Vehicles without supercharger
1. Remove the air cleaner.

Vehicles with supercharger
1. Remove the air cleaner.





2. Remove the air intake tube.

All Vehicles





1. Install the right hand rear engine lifting bracket.





2. Detach the bulkhead ground cable.





3. Install the left hand rear engine lifting bracket.





4. Install the front engine lifting eyes.

Vehicles with supercharger





1. Detach the brake booster vacuum pipe.

Vehicles without supercharger





1. Detach the brake booster vacuum pipe.

All vehicles





1. Detach the fuel line retaining clip.
2. Detach the fuel line.





3. Detach fuel purge line.
^ Remove and discard retaining clip.





4. Remove the engine using a suitable hydraulic lift.
