Procedure 17 - Software Updates

REPAIR PROCEDURE 17: V00477 - V10285

CAUTION:
Refer to K064 IDS Care Points prior to commencing software updates.

CAUTION:
Ensure all SDD-displayed ignition 'ON' - / ignition 'OFF' requests and instructions are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

CAUTION:
A Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.

NOTE:
For vehicles within the VIN range V00477 - V05279, ensure a new Audio Control Module (ACM) is available prior to commencing this Repair Procedure SDD will confirm if ACM replacement is necessary Do not replace the ACM unless and until instructed to do so by SDD.

NOTE:
Ensure the vehicle's USB Audio is functional before starting updates by playing music through vehicle USB port. If the vehicle's Audio / Video button is grayed Out prior to starting SDD downloads, perform a Vehicle Battery Reset.

NOTE:
The following items are required:

Two (2) formatted USB memory sticks with at least 256Mb of free space for transferring files from SDD to the vehicle; one (1) USB memory stick with MP3 / WAV / AAC audio files.

1. Connect the Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.

NOTE:
IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD124_V6.01 or later and Calibration File 58 or later.

2. Connect the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.

3. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.

4. Choose Campaigns from the Session Type selection screen.

NOTE:
In the event that a routine fails at any stage, the SDD recommendations screen will automatically change to show that the routine has 'completed'; on screen prompts during the routine inform whether a download has completed successfully.

5. Select the Recommendations tab.

6. From the Recommendations tab, select and Run the following software updates in the order they appear:

NOTE:
If download fails to successfully be completed, disconnect the Midtronics power supply and vehicle battery to fully reset the vehicle After 30 seconds, connect the vehicle battery and Midtronics power supply.

^ XJ Customer Assurance Program - Stage 2 - FCDIM Update Part A

NOTE:
Message 'Warning Communications Failure: IAM' may be displayed at the conclusion of stage 3; this may be ignored.

NOTE:
If SDD does not recognize the files transferred through the vehicle's USB port, perform a Vehicle Battery Reset and restart Stage 3.

^ XJ Customer Assurance Program - Stage 3 - FCDIM Update Part B

NOTE:
SDD will confirm if Audio Control Module (ACM) replacement is necessary Do not replace the ACM until instructed to do so by SDD.

NOTE:
Ignore the SDD instruction to perform a vehicle lock-down procedure; this will be performed as part of Repair Procedure 20.

^ XJ Customer Assurance Program - Stage 4 - Audio Control Module Update.

^ Only if instructed, refer to Workshop Manual section 415-01 and replace the ACM.

^ XJ Customer Assurance Program - Stage 5 - Instrument Cluster Module Update.

NOTE:
DTC U0300 may become permanently stored in the FCDIM; it cannot be cleared and must be ignored.

^ XJ Customer Assurance Program - Stage 6 - Vehicle Set up / Recovery.

> Select Traffic Messaging Channel and then select 'tick'.

^ Only if instructed by the Jaguar Technical HelpLine: select 'Voice Car Configuration setting'.

> Select Vehicle Set-up Instruction and then select 'tick'.

> Select MOST recovery help information and then select 'tick.

7. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

8. Exit the current session.

9. Disconnect the IDS and vehicle power supply.

NOTE:
Ensure Repair Procedure 20 is performed prior to testing any new features.

10. Continue to next appropriate Repair Procedure.
