Service Action: XJ Feature Activation and Enhancement Program
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
In an effort to ensure that certain 2011 model year XJ vehicles are fitted with the very latest software to enhance the vehicle owner's experience, vehicles within the affected VIN range may require a number of module software updates. As previously communicated, these software updates will offer a number of additional infotainment features, including Interactive Voice(TM), enhanced Navigation functions, and video streaming via the Media Hub. Jaguar is making these available to customers who have purchased 2011 MY XJ vehicles.
Those modules requiring software updates are:
^ FCDIM, Audio Control Module, and Instrument Cluster Module
In addition, as a result of field reports and Engineering investigations on 2011 MY XJ vehicles, a number of enhancements are being introduced to improve the customers experience. These feature enhancements will cover the following items:
^ Front Door Glass Moving Slowly - replace both front door outer waist shields to correct the slow closure action in temperatures below 28°F / -2°C
^ Business Tray Latches - replace latches to prevent the latch on the rear of the front seats breaking during normal operation
^ Cross Car Front / Rear Seals Adrift - stop the noise above occupants head
^ Panoramic Roof Front / Rear Blind Inoperative - fit a motor bracket and where necessary replace the motor and casting to stop the ratcheting noise being heard
^ Panoramic Roof Front / Rear Blind Feet - replace the front and rear blind feet to ensure the blind operates correctly
^ Panoramic Roof Sight Shields Creak - replace the outer sight shields to stop the creaking noise when the glass in a closed position. Replace the inner sight shields to stop the creaking noise during blind operation
^ Panoramic Roof Front / Rear Blind Judder - check and where necessary degrease the rear guides to stop juddering noise
^ Rear Vanity Mirrors - replace vanity mirror to improve latching and light functionality
^ Audio Unit Amplifier - check for water damage and replace if necessary
^ Water Shedder - prevent any possible water damage to the amplifier
^ Audio Control Module - replace the ACM on a number of vehicles as the voice will not be functional unable to play USB videos, extended Navigation features not available, and temporary loss of access to AN features
^ Battery - check the battery and replace if necessary
^ Power Steering Pipe Plating Quality - corrosion protection applied to some power assist steering (PAS) pipes may not meet specification
^ Owners Handbook - replace with updated version JJM 18 02 34 111 (NAS English) / JJM 20 02 34 111 (NAS Canadian French)
NOTE:
Unsold US vehicles only eligible for UPS3110 (K070) must have Owner's Handbook JJM 18 02 34 112 installed in place of JJM 18 02 34 111 after completion of the rework action detailed in Technical Bulletin UPS3110.
Action:
Dealers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.
For cars in dealer inventory, this Service Action should be performed after completion of the vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).

It is imperative that K064 IDS Care Points be read in its entirety before proceeding with any IDS work indicated within. Failure to follow these instructions will greatly impact the level of success when performing this repair.
