Service Action: Global Open / Global Close Activation

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:
A limited number of 2011 model year XK vehicles may have been manufactured where the global open / global close feature is not enabled in the Car Configuration File (CCF). If not enabled, customers are unable to select or use this feature to globally open / close the windows.

Action:
Dealers are required to update all affected vehicles within their control and withhold them from retail delivery pending completion of the rework actions detailed in this bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns. Refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below.

NOTE:
Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times / prices are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time. Check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to undertaking any rework action. At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, ensure that all outstanding Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.

Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code 'K091' together with the relevant Option Code from the table. The SRO and part information listed have been included for information only.

The Option Code that allows for the drive in / drive out allowance can only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.





This Service Action is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 30 June 2013 closure date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

CHECK GLOBAL OPEN / CLOSE FEATURE

1. Verify windows one-touch window operation.

If not set, refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-11: Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, and perform the Door Window Motor Initialization.





2. Use the touchscreen to set the global open / global close to 'ON'. (Figure 1)
