COMPONENT LOCATION

OVERVIEW
Armored vehicles can announce their presence using blue strobe lamps and/or white flashing lamps at the front of the vehicle.
The strobe lamps system consists of:
- Two blue LED (light emitting diode) strobe lamps behind the front grille.
- An on/off strobe lamp switch on the covert options switchpack.
The flashing lamps system consists of:
- Two white LED (light emitting diode) flashing lamps behind the front grille.
- An on/off flashing lamps switch on the covert options switchpack.
- A changeover relay on the underside of the covert options switchpack.

SYSTEM OPERATION

Strobe Lamps
Pressing the strobe lamp switch connects power from the satellite junction box to the two strobe lamps. An orange LED (light emitting diode) in the strobe switch illuminates, to show that the system is active, and the lamps illuminate in a triple flash pattern. The flashing alternates between the left and right lamps, synchronized by a cable connected between the two lamps. Pressing the strobe lamp switch again extinguishes the lamps and the orange LED (light emitting diode) in the switch.

Flashing Lamps
When the side lamps and headlamps are off, the de-energized changeover relay supplies power from the satellite junction box to the flashing lamps switch. Pressing the flashing lamps switch connects power from the satellite junction box to the two flashing lamps. An orange LED (light emitting diode) in the switch illuminates, to show that the system is active, and the lamps flash. The flashing alternates between the left and right lamps, synchronized by a cable connected between the two lamps. Pressing the flashing lamps switch again extinguishes the lamps and the orange LED (light emitting diode) in the switch. If the side lamps or headlamps are selected on, the changeover relay energizes and disconnects power from the flashing lamps switch, to prevent the system operating.
