A new mirror gasket configuration has been introduced on vehicles from VIN VA534108 and VA703241 as part of the continuing effort to eliminate wind noise and dust intrusion around the mirror trim panel. Wind noise relating to the mirror area includes whistling and wind 'wave' noise at highway speeds or during windy conditions.
The installation consists of a new gasket that comes with foam pads strategically placed around the gasket. Pad location is dependent upon which mirror (left or right hand) is being addressed.
Refer to the procedure and illustrations below for foam pad placement on the gasket. The gasket and pad kit can be fitted to all Discovery models from VIN RA081991 to VA534108 or VA703241.
The diagnostic steps and repair procedures detailed on the following pages were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way Operation PRIDE. This TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.
