REPAIR PROCEDURE:
DISASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT
1. Remove the three trim fasteners securing the cushion trim.
2. Remove the cushion trim (Figure 1).
3. Raise the seat to its highest position.
NOTE: Do not confuse slight up and down rock with fore and aft play.
4. Sit in the seat. Move the seat fore and aft to determine the point of most noticeable free play and position the seat in this location.
5. Locate the fore and aft gearbox (Figure 2).
6. Remove the "C" clip retaining the cable to the gearbox housing.
7. Remove the cable from the gearbox to expose the inner cable.
8. Rotate the inner cable by hand approximately five revolutions.
9. Insert the cable into the gearbox, and install the "C" clip.
WARNING: Keep fingers clear of seat tracks when testing seat movement.
CAUTION: Adjust only as much as required to remove play. Over-adjusting the drive cable will result in observable cocking of the seat. Binding may also result.
NOTE: The adjustment is correct when no play is detectable in the seat base.
10. Operate the seat to its maximum fore and aft positions and check for play.
11. If play is detectable, go to step 6 and repeat the procedure to further reduce play.
ASSEMBLY
1. Verify that seat traverses full travel fore and aft without binding.
2. When fore and aft play has been eliminated, verify that cable and "C" clip are properly installed and secure.
3. Assembly seat cushion trim panel.
