SITUATION:
SILL BUTTON TOO LOW TO CONVENIENTLY UNLOCK DOORS FROM INSIDE VEHICLE
From inside the vehicle, when the door is locked, it is difficult to grasp the sill button to unlock the door.
RESOLUTION:
REPOSITION SILL BUTTON HEIGHT TO REVISED SPECIFICATION
On customer complaint of difficulty gripping the sill button, raise the setting of the sill button position to expose more of the button for unlocking the door from the inside the vehicle.
NOTE:
Revised factory processes for MY 1998 vehicles will eliminate the need for this procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
SILL BUTTON HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
1. Measure the height of the sill button (in unlocked position) from the door-casing sill to the top of the sill button. If measurement is below 32 mm (1-1/4 inches) continue adjustment process.
2. As outlined in WSM, Section 76, remove the door casing to access sill button.
3. Once door casing is removed, adjust sill button height to specification of 33 mm (+/- 1 mm) (1-5/16 inches) as shown in Figure 1 by turning the sill button counter-clockwise.
NOTE:
For each complete counter-clockwise turn of the sill button, the sill button height will be raised by 1 mm (1/32 inch).
4. After adjusting the sill button, refit the door casing and verify sill button height.
