All Range Rover 4.0/4.6 vehicles have a twin plate drive system. This drive system helps minimize noise vibration and harshness in the power unit.

This bulletin is to highlight the part differences between the 4.0 litre and 4.6 litre vehicles.

ACTION REQUIRED

If a gearbox has to be removed/re-fitted, refer to the information below.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 44 for remove and refit of the automatic gearbox.

When re-fitting the gearbox ensure that the parts are fitted as follows:

The thick spacer (approximately 12 mm) should be fitted into the 4.0 litre vehicles only.

The thin spacer (approximately 4 mm) should be fitted into the 4.6 litre vehicles only.

On assembly the flexi drive plate must be fitted the correct way round. The holes in the flex drive plate must line up with the clearance holes in the starter ring plate to enable the torque converter bolt heads to pass through. (shown on illustration A opposite).
