Improved brake pads, with revised anti-squeal shims, have been developed to address customer complaint of brake squeal. The new specification includes self-adhesive shims which bond to the brake pistons. A high standard of cleanliness is essential to ensure a successful bond. The new specification was introduced in the production line at the start of 1997 model year (VIN VA 346794). The following procedure should be used on customer complaint on vehicles prior to this VIN.
The diagnostic steps and repair procedures detailed in this bulletin were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way OPERATION PRIDE. This TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.
