SITUATION:
NEW STYLE PINION WITH INTERNAL THREAD INTRODUCED
To simplify production and to improve durability a new style differential pinion is now being used in production from the above axle numbers. Because of the new configuration, the torque recommendations in the Workshop Manual no longer apply when installing the pinion drive flange onto the new configuration pinion.
RESOLUTION:
When repairing or replacing differential assemblies with the new internal thread configuration, ensure that the proper spare parts are being utilized and that the correct torque is applied.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
TORQUE VALUES FOR NEW COMPONENTS
CAUTION:
Applying torque greater than specified in this bulletin may result in damage to the bolt and potential sheering of the bolt shaft.
1. Refer to WSM Section 51 and perform repairs as required by symptoms.
2. If the pinion is a revised design, perform the following during assembly:
^ When WSM calls for the installation of pinion nut, locate the washer (FTC5413) and thread the 12 mm bolt (FS112301P) into pinion shaft.
^ Torque the bolt to 90 Nm (65 lbf.ft.).
