Tool Instructions

EVAPS Diagnostic Station Assembly and Testing

1. Refer to the EDS instruction sheet for detailed installation and setup directions.

2. Obtain a 125 cubic foot nitrogen bottle from a local supplier.

WARNING:
If proper procedures are not used when handling or using compressed gases, there is danger of bodily injury or death. Consult with your local gas distributor for information regarding proper procedures and precautions.

NOTE:
Do not remove nitrogen cylinder valve cover cap until cylinder is firmly attached to EDS cart.

3. Attach nitrogen cylinder to EDS cart with both top and bottom straps.

4. Tighten straps to hold cylinder firmly in place.

5. Remove valve cover cap.

NOTE:
Sealant should not be applied to regulator threads.

6. Install pressure regulator and tighten regulator nut.

7. Attach black hose from control panel to regulator outlet fitting and tighten finger tight.

8. Verify the regulator setting and leak test the system as follows

^ If EDS system adapter hose is not required, connect EDS red hose to "Self Test Plug" on EDS control panel.

^ If EDS system adapters is required, connect adapter ends together to form a loop and attach EDS red hose finger tight to adapter.

^ Open nitrogen cylinder valve.

^ Turn control panel valve to "Pressure" position.

^ Observe gauge and allow gauge to rise for 30 seconds.

^ Pressure should stabilize at approximately 30 in. H2O.

CAUTION:
Do not attempt any adjustments to the high pressure regulator.

^ If 30 in. H20 is not obtained, adjust regulator as follows:

^ With control valve in "Pressure" position remove black vinyl cover from second-stage low pressure regulator.

^ Loosen lock nut and adjust center screw to obtain MAXIMUM gauge reading of 30 in. H2O.

^ Tighten lock nut.

^ Install black vinyl cover.

^ When 30 in. H2O pressure has been obtained, turn control panel valve to "Off/Hold" position and note pressure reading.

^ Wait 15 seconds and verify that no pressure drop occurs.

^ If pressure drop is observed, perform leak test using Ultrasonic Lead Detector to isolate leak.

^ Repair leak and test before proceeding.

9. Zero the EDS gauge as follows:

^ Turn the control panel valve to the "Pressure Release" position.

^ Adjust screw in face of gauge to position pointer to zero (black bar area).
