Replace Heater Feed Hose
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

SITUATION:
HEATER FEED HOSE LEAKING
In some cases the heater feed hose on the intake manifold may leak. causing customer concerns and possible engine overheating.
RESOLUTION:
REPLACE HEATER FEED HOSE
Using the procedure outlined below replace the heater feed hose.

Replace Heater Feed Hose

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Allow engine to cool and remove pressure cap from expansion tank.
2. Remove the bolt securing the coolant pipe brackets and the nut securing the bracket to the manifold.
3. Clamp the hose leading to the heater matrix, using a soft jaw heater hose clamp, to avoid formation of air pockets in the matrix.
4. Loosen clamps and remove damaged heater feed hose and discard hose.
NOTE:
Clamp locations can be switched to ensure that worm track on the clamp in not damaged.
5. Reuse hose clamps if undamaged.
6. Install new feed hose onto manifold spigot with clamps fitted loosely.
7. Install metal coolant pipe into feed hose.
8. Arrange pipes and hose so that they are in proper position and not in tension.
9. Tighten the nut securing the bracket to the manifold.
10. Install bolt to secure coolant pipe bracket and tighten securely.
11. Tighten clamps on heater feed pipe securely.
12. Pour correct solution of water and anti-freeze into expansion tank until radiator is full.
13. Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached, topping up as required.
14. While engine is warming up, check for any other coolant leaks that may be present. Repair as necessary.
15. Position heater control to the maximum heat position and verify that there is heater output.
16. Install expansion tank filler cap.
17. Allow engine to cool and check coolant level.
18. Top up coolant to the level of the expansion tank seam.
