Door Bin Material Cover Delamination

SITUATION:

DOOR BIN MATERIAL COVERS DELAMINATE

Some Discovery models with material covering on the front door storage bins have experienced deterioration of the adhesive bond between the covering and the underlying plastic bin assembly.

RESOLUTION:

APPLY ADHESIVE AND BOND THE MATERIAL COVERING TO THE BIN

Application of a stronger contact adhesive will ensure proper attachment of the material covering to the storage bin. Follow the procedures outlined below to achieve the desired results.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

PREPARE STORAGE BIN FOR REPAIR





1. Identify area of delamination and pull the top edge of the covering away from the storage bin along its entire length.

2. Wipe all adhesive residue from the storage bin.

3. Apply the specified Loctite 401 adhesive to both the material covering and the storage bin.

4. Wait the manufacturer's recommended cure time.

5. Carefully press the material onto the bin surface taking care to ensure a smooth application.

CAUTION:
A vehicle should not be parked in direct sunlight during cure time.

6. Allow the adhesive to cure 30 minutes in a cool location.
