ALLDATA Editor Note: Code P0600 is a communication code, that is able to effect both the ECM and the Transmission Interface.
The CAN or Controller Area Network System is a high-speed serial interface for sharing dynamic signals between control modules.
DTC P0600
CAN Interface timeout Transmission Control Module Drive cycle A:Signal missing.
Possible causes by suggested order of priority:
^ Connectors C193, ECM C637 (B).
^ Open circuit - C193/16 (W) to C637/36 (W).
^ Open circuit - C193/44 (Y) to C637/37 (Y).
^ Short circuit - C193/16 (W) to vehicle earth.
^ Short circuit - C193/44 (Y) to vehicle earth.
^ Transmission control unit fault.
^ ECM fault.
Connectors C193, ECM C637 (B).
CONNECTOR
^ Check for connector not correctly latched, backed out pins, damaged pins, corroded pins.
Open Circuit - C193/16 (W) to C637/36 (W).
OPEN_CIRCUIT
^ Check resistance > 1M Ohm
Open Circuit - C193/44 (Y) to C637/37 (Y).
OPEN_CIRCUIT
^ Check resistance > 1M Ohm
Short Circuit - C193/16 (W) To Vehicle Earth.
SHORT_CIRCUIT
^ Check resistance < 5.0 ohms
Short Circuit - C193/44 (Y) To Vehicle Earth.
SHORT_CIRCUIT
^ Check resistance < 5.0 ohms
Transmission Control Unit Fault.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
^ Run transmission control unit diagnostics.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
^ Transmission control unit fault.
ECM Fault.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
^ Eliminate other possible causes of this fault.
^ Check that transmission control unit diagnostics also reports a CAN interface timeout fault.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
^ Faulty ECM.
