ACE Diagnostics and Bleed Procedure

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Discovery Series II (LT) All

SITUATION:

PAST PRACTICE REQUIRED FULL SYSTEM BLEED

T4 RDS software up to revision Archive 21 did not allow the front and rear ACE actuators to be "bleed" individually. A review of the ACE repair processes has established that many component changes do NOT actually require a full system bleed.

RESOLUTION:

FOLLOW NEW T4 PROCESSES AND LABOR ALLOWANCES

Where repair work on the ACE system is required, use of 14 diagnostic disc "Archive 22" permits bleeding of parts of the system. Refer to the Repair Procedure section and revised service repair operation times detailed in this bulletin. The GTR Workshop Manual will be updated at the next available opportunity to include the changes.

PARTS INFORMATION:

No Parts Involved

DDW WARRANTY CLAIMS:

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

Normal warranty policy and procedures apply.
Material allowance is included in labor operation.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INFORMATION ONLY:
TROUBLESHOOT, REPAIR AND BLEED THE SYSTEM FOLLOWING NEW PARAMETERS

NOTE:
Diagnostics will dictate the type of bleed procedure required. Always use the latest T4 Diagnostic disc to ensure that the latest software and troubleshooting processes are being utilized.

1. Depending on the diagnosis and repair, the following bleed parameters are to be observed.

^ No bleed required: When renewing or disconnecting components in the primary circuit, such as the ACE pump, reservoir, high pressure feed hose (pump to valve), low pressure return hose (valve to reservoir), suction hose (reservoir to pump) or pressure transducer, no system bleed will be required.

^ Prime required: When installing a new or drained ACE pump, a system prime will be required.

^ Front bleed required: When renewing or disconnecting components in the front actuation circuit, (the front actuator or front actuator feed hose) a front only bleed will be required.

^ Rear bleed required: When renewing or disconnecting components in the rear actuation circuit, (the rear actuator or rear actuator feed hose) a rear only bleed will be required.

^ Full bleed required: When renewing or disconnecting the valve block or disconnecting the actuator pipes from it, a full system bleed will be required.

2. The following existing problems have been identified and corrected within the 14 ACE diagnostics on Archive 22:

^ ACE DCV force output errors corrected.

^ ACE fault code 46 - erroneous fault reporting corrected.

^ ACE bleed split and "engine running fault" corrected.
