Drivetrain - Revised Transfer Case Removal Procedure
No: 44/01/04/NASRef:
Issue: 1
Date: 27 February 2004
Revised T-Box Removal Procedure
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Discovery Series II (LT)
Equipped with 4.6 engine
SITUATION:
DIFFICULT REMOVAL OF TRANSFER GEARBOX
Field experience has shown that removal of the 2003 transfer gearbox requires some additional steps that are not part of the RAVE workshop manual procedure. The Transmission/Engine assembly used in 2003 and up Discovery vehicles is slightly longer than the 4.0 liter versions. This requires new steps to gain the required room to remove and install the transfer gearbox.
RESOLUTION:
FOLLOW NEW PROCEDURE WHEN REMOVING TRANSFER GEARBOX
Refer to the edited WSM procedure below to ensure a smooth process of removal. Note that the R&R time for the new procedure has been increased for 2003- Series II vehicles.
PARTS INFORMATION:
No parts involved
