Manifold Removal and Installation

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Discovery Series II (LT) All with Secondary Air Injection (SAI) System

SITUATION:
CHANGE TO METHODS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET

Methods engineers at Land Rover have recently studied the service process for renewal of the intake manifold gasket for Discovery II models. Significant process changes have been made. The changes
refine and improve the process that allows the operation to be carried out more efficiently. Changes include:
^ Hood removal no longer required.
^ Hood seal no longer removed from engine bay.
^ Step added to remove the coolant inlet tube, easing removal of the intake manifold.

RESOLUTION:
FOLLOW NEW PROCEDURE FOR INCREASE EFFICIENCY

Should it become necessary to replace an intake manifold gasket on a Discovery II equipped with secondary air, refer to the repair procedure detailed in this bulletin.

Associated repairs that require the new workshop procedure will also change. The superseded repair time for 30.15.24/25 was 1.80 hours
