DTC P0650
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) fault Drive cycle A:Signal out of range - above maximum.

Possible causes by suggested order of priority:
^ MIL harness short circuit.
^ Instrument pack MIL problem.
^ Motronic ECM fault.

MIL Harness Short Circuit.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
^ ECM reports MIL output overload.
^ Harness cable connected to C233/13 (RS) shorted to battery positive - MIL never illuminated.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
^ Harness C233/13 (RS) shorted to battery positive.

Note: Use multimeter to manually check components.

Instrument Pack MIL Problem.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
^ ECM reports MIL output overload.
^ If TestBook available run warnings and sounders diagnostic to check instrument pack function.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
^ Problem with instrument pack MIL input.

Note: Use multimeter to manually check components.

Motronic ECM Fault.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
^ MIL never illuminates.
^ Instrument pack (warnings and sounders) diagnostic shows no problem and no short circuit present.
^ Check ECM by substitution with a known good unit.
POSSIBLE FAULTS
^ Faulty Motronic ECM
