Cooling System - Viscous Fan Replacement
No: 26/04/05/NASFGN LT303-03
Ref:
Issue: 1
Date: 18 Jul 2005
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Discovery Series II (LT)
All
SITUATION:
CHANGE TO METHODS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF VISCOUS FAN ASSEMBLY
Methods engineers at Land Rover have recently studied the service process for replacement of the viscous fan assembly for Discovery Series II models. Some time efficiencies for gasoline powered vehicles have been obtain, although the study was primarily directed toward diesel powered Discovery vehicles. The step for removal of the acoustic cover has been deleted.
RESOLUTION:
FOLLOW NEW PROCEDURE TO REDUCE TIME OF REPAIR
Should it become necessary to remove a viscous fan assembly on a Discovery II, follow the procedure detailed in this bulletin.
TOOL INFORMATION:
DDW WARRANTY CLAIMS:
NOTE:
Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.
NOTE:
Although the base time for this specific procedure remains unchanged at the minimum 0.20 hours, other processes that include this procedure will show an overall time reduction due to the accumulative effect of this procedure improvement. Refer to the table for affected procedures.
