Workshop Procedure to Remove/install Roof Opening Panel

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:

REVISED PROCEDURE DEVELOPED FOR SUNROOF REPAIRS

Situation:

This Technical Bulletin has been issued to inform Retailers of a change in the workshop procedure to remove/install the roof opening panel. The previous procedure removed the rear seats and the headlining from the vehicle to gain access to the roof opening panel. In the new procedure the headlining is released and lowered, allowing enough room to remove the roof opening panel.

Action:

Should it become necessary to remove the sunroof opening panel, please refer to the new procedure detailed in the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
Old Labor Time for replacing the sunroof opening panel was Operation 76.84.01 and took 4.00 hours.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

Service Instruction

Remove

1. Open roof opening panel.

2. Make SRS system safe.

3. Remove 'A' post upper finishers.

4. Remove 'B' post finishers.

5. Release both 'D' post upper trim finishers.

6. Remove 'E' post finishers.

7. Remove roof opening panel glass.





8. Remove four Torx bolts securing roof opening panel trim to sliding assembly.





9. Push roof opening panel trim sliding assemblies backwards.





10. Remove 15 Torx screws securing headlining to roof opening panel and remove clamp plate.

11. Remove sun visors.

12. Remove front console from headlining.

13. Remove rear console from headlining.

14. Remove grab handles.





15. Open flap remove four screws securing cargo net upper anchor finishers and remove finishers.





16. Carefully release the clip securing rear edge of headlining.

17. Remove four screws securing headlining.

18. With assistance carefully lower headlining.

19. Release drain tubes from roof opening panel.





20. Release rear console harness from roof opening panel.

21. Disconnect electrical connector from roof opening panel motor.





22. Remove Allen screw securing motor and roof opening panel.





23. Remove two bolts with special washers securing forward edge of roof opening panel.

24. Remove 10 bolts securing roof opening panel and with assistance remove the roof opening panel.

Install

25. With assistance install roof opening panel and tighten bolts evenly to 10 Nm (7 lbf. ft).

26. Tighten Allen screw to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf. ft).

27. Connect electrical connector to motor.

28. Position and secure rear console harness.

29. Ensure drain tubes are clear.

30. Connect drain tubes to roof opening panel.

31. With assistance align headlining and secure with screws.

32. Secure the clip at headlining rear edge.

33. Install four screws securing headlining.

34. Install cargo net anchor finishers and secure with screws.

35. Install grab handles.

36. Install rear console.

37. Install front console.

38. Install sun visors.

39. Install roof opening panel glass.

40. Align roof opening panel trim sliding assemblies to bolt holes.

41. Install and tighten Torx bolts securing roof opening panel trim to sliding assemblies.

42. Install 'E' post finishers.

43. Install 'D' post upper finishers.

44. Install 'B' post finishers.

45. Install 'A' post upper finishers.

46. Close roof opening panel.

47. Initialize roof opening panel.
