Seat Cushion to Backrest Gap
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

With 8-way adjustable electric driver's seat
CONDITION SUMMARY:
BRACKET MOVEMENT CAUSES GAP BETWEEN SEAT BOTTOM AND BACK
A customer may report a concern of an excessive gap developing between the driver's side seat base cushion and the seat back backrest on vehicles with the 8-way adjustable seat.
Cause:
Under certain heavy load conditions to the front of the seat cushion, the front tilt bracket can pivot causing a gap to appear at the cushion/backrest line.
Action:
Should a customer complain about the gap between the seat cushions, refer to the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to install a redesigned tilt bracket.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
INSTALL REPLACEMENT TILT BRACKET
NOTE:
GTR lookup sequence is as follows:

1. Refer to GTR Workshop Manual Section 78.10.44/99 and remove the driver's seat.
2. Release the four seat cushion retaining screws and remove the seat cushion. (Figure 1)
3. If installed, remove the memory ECU. (Figure 2)
4. Disconnect the electrical connections and remove the connector carrier by releasing the retaining tang and sliding the carrier from its mounting. (Figure 3)
5. Release the electrical connections from the seat tilt motor.
6. Remove the tilt mechanism from the seat frame. (Figure 4)
7. Remove tilt bracket retaining bolts. (Figure 5)
CAUTION:
The location pins on the tilt bracket must engage in the hole in the tilt adjust mechanism.
8. Install the new tilt bracket (HGM500010) with the pins engaging in the tilt adjust mechanism. (Figure 6)
9. Install the tilt mechanism into the seat frame.
10. Install the electrical connections to the seat tilt motor.
11. Install the connector carrier onto the retaining tang and connect the electrical connections.
12. Install the memory ECU.
13. Install the seat cushion and tighten the four seat cushion retaining screws.
14. Refer to GTR Workshop Manual Section 78.10.44/99 and install the driver's seat.
