Inspection and Verification

1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Visually inspect for obvious faults.
^ Some of the networks are hard-wired and can be diagnosed using a multimeter and the electrical guides once the general area is identified from the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
^ The media oriented system transport (MOST) network carries the entertainment and information system data through fibre optic cables requiring different diagnosis and repair techniques to those many of us are used to. Refer to the MOST diagnosis section following the DTC index.

General
^ Fuses
^ Harnesses and connectors
^ Routing and condition of fibre optic harnesses
^ Correct engagement of optical connectors
^ Control modules
^ Sensors

3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. Use the approved diagnostic system or a scan tool to retrieve any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) before moving onto the DTC index.
^ Because the networks cover the entire vehicle, a complete vehicle read of DTCs is recommended
^ Make sure that all DTCs are cleared the rectification
