Parking Aid
Parking Aid
OPERATION
Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 11E (C0632) on an R wire. Fusible link 11E (C0570) is located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB) and provides a constant battery feed to the ignition switch (C0028) on an N wire.
When the ignition switch is in the ignition position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 36P (C0582) on a Y wire. Fuse 36P (C0586) is located in the Central Junction Box (CJB) and provides an ignition feed to the parking aid module (C0957) on an NK wire. The parking aid module (C0957) is provided a ground via a B wire.
Master Switch
The master switch (C2387) is mounted in the center of the instrument panel and is provided a feed by the parking aid module (C0957) on an NU wire. When the switch is pressed, a momentary ground is provided via a B wire. Sensing this ground, the module initiates operation of the parking aid system (if all other criteria are met) and also provides a feed to the switch LED (C2387) on an RS wire. The LED is also provided a ground via a B wire.
Sensors
Each parking aid sensor is connected to the parking aid module (C1457 for the front sensors, C0958 for the rear sensors) by three wires. All sensors are provided a power feed by the control module on an N wire. All sensors are also provided a ground via the parking aid module on a B wire.
The third connection is the 'signal line'. The parking aid module provides a 'transmit' signal to each sensor. When this is received, the sensors transmit ultrasonic bursts and switch to 'listening' mode. Any obstacles within range bounce back an echo to the sensors. The time taken between the ultrasonic burst and the echo being received is converted into a digital signal by the sensors and transmitted back to the parking aid module via the 'signal line'. This process is repeated approximately every 100 ms.
The sensor signal lines are as follows:
^ The front LH outer sensor (C0402) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C1457) via an R wire.
^ The front LH inner sensor (C0400) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C1457) via a Y wire.
^ The front RH inner sensor (C0401) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C1457) via a G wire.
^ The front RH outer sensor (C0403) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C1457) via a U wire.
^ The rear LH outer sensor (C0963) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C0958) via an R wire.
^ The rear LH inner sensor (C0964) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C0958) via a YR then Y wire.
^ The rear RH inner sensor (C0965) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C0958) via a G wire.
^ The rear RH outer sensor (C0966) receives and sends signals to the parking aid control module (C0958) via a UG then U wire.
Rear Speaker
The rear parking aid speaker (C0987) is located in the rear LH side of the luggage compartment and is provided a positive signal by the parking aid module on a LGR wire. A negative signal is provided by the control module to the speaker on an RLG wire.
Front Speaker
The front parking aid system utilises the instrument cluster speaker. The parking aid module (C0957) transmits signals to the instrument cluster (C0230) via the medium speed CAN bus on YW (high) and YU (low) wires.
CAN Bus
The parking aid module (C0957) is connected to the medium speed CAN bus by YW (high) and YU (low) wires. The CAN bus is used to transmit and receive the following information:
^ A front 'parking aid speaker' message.
^ A 'selected gear' message.
^ A 'vehicle speed' message.
^ A 'trailer connected' message.
