Entertainment System - Low Line - Single CD Player

Entertainment System - Low Line - Single CD Player

DESCRIPTION

Introduction
The low line entertainment system is based around a head unit which communicates to other components in the system via hard wired connections and the medium speed CAN bus. The low line head unit contains the following functionality:
^ Radio tuner
^ Single disc CD player
^ Amplifier

OPERATION

Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 11E and fusible link 18E (C0632) on an R wire. Both are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB). Fusible link 18E (C0570) is connected to fuse 53P of the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0583) by an NS wire. Fuse 53P (C0582) provides a constant battery feed to the head unit (C1354) on a P wire.

Fusible link 11E (C0570) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire. When the ignition switch is in the ignition position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 69P of the CJB (C0582) on a Y wire. Fuse 69P (C0586) provides an ignition feed to the home link (C0698) on a GR wire. The home link is located within the front interior lamp and is provided a ground path on a B wire.

Speakers
The head unit (C1354) is connected to the speakers as follows:

NOTE: It is essential that all speakers are connected correctly. A speaker connected incorrectly will be out of phase with the remaining speakers causing a deterioration of sound quality.

^ A positive signal is provided by the head unit to the front passenger side mid-range speaker (C0726) on a G wire. The speaker is provided a negative signal by the head unit on a GW wire.
^ A positive signal is provided by the head unit to the front passenger side high range speaker (C0531) on a G wire. The speaker is provided a negative signal by the head unit on a GW wire.
^ A positive signal is provided by the head unit to the front drivers side mid-range speaker (C0688) on a G wire. The speaker is provided a negative signal by the head unit on a GW wire.
^ A positive signal is provided by the head unit to the front drivers side high range speaker (C0530) on a G wire. The speaker is provided a negative signal by the head unit on a GW wire.
^ A positive signal is provided by the head unit to the RH rear mid-range speaker (C0310) on a G wire. The RH rear mid-range speaker (C0310) is provided a negative signal by the head unit on a GW wire.
^ A positive signal is provided by the head unit to the LH rear mid-range speaker (C0310) on a G wire. The speaker is provided a negative signal by the head unit on a GW wire.

NOTE: The RH rear and LH rear mid-range speakers share the same connector number as they utilise the same door harness.

Remote Audio Controls
The head unit (C1354) provides a feed to the remote audio controls (C1254) via the clock spring (C0082) on an SR wire. The remote audio controls contain a number of normally open switches and resistors. When the controls are used, one of the switches closes and a voltage is returned to the head unit (C1354) on an SB wire. By measuring the returned voltage, the head unit determines which function has been requested.

Radio Antenna
The head unit (C1354) provides a feed to the radio antenna (C2219) on a U wire. Radio signals are provided to the head unit (C2236) from the antenna (C1848) on a P co-axial cable. The antenna is provided a ground path via its fixings.
