OPERATION
Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 9E, fusible link 11E, and fuse 23E (C0632) on an R wire. All are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB).
Fuse 23E (C0570) provides a constant battery feed to the ABS module (C0506) on an NG wire. Fusible link 9E (C0570) provides a constant battery feed to the ABS module (C0506) on an NK wire. The ABS module (C0506) is provided a ground path on a pair of B wires.
Fusible link 11E (C0570) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire. When the ignition switch is in the ignition position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to the following on a Y wire:
^ Fuse 15P
^ Fuse 37P.
^ Fuse 66P.
^ HDC relay coil.
All are located in the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0582).
Fuse 15P provides an ignition feed to the HDC relay switch contacts. It also provides an ignition feed to the stop lamp switch (C0075) on a GO wire.
Fuse 37P (C0583) provides an ignition feed to the ABS module (C0506) and the Yaw rate sensor (C1656) on an LG wire.
Fuse 66P (C0582) provides an ignition feed to the following on R wires:
^ The DSC master switch (C2387)
^ HDC master switch (C0700)
^ Stop lamp switch (C0075).
Stop Lamp Switch
The stop lamp switch contains a pair of normally open switches. When the brake pedal is pressed both switches close simultaneously. The feed provided to the stop lamp switch (C0075) from fuse 66P of the CJB on an R wire (C0582) is supplied to the ABS module (C0506) on a PG wire. The feed provided to the brake pedal switch (C0075) from fuse 15P of the CJB on an GO wire (C0585) is supplied to the following on GP wires:
^ The LH stop lamp (C0121).
^ The RH stop lamp (C0125).
^ The high mounted stop lamp (C0832).
All are provided ground paths on B wires.
Wheel Speed Sensors
The ABS module monitors individual wheel speed via four wheel speed sensors. The ABS module (C0506) is connected to the sensors as follows:
^ A feed is provided to the LH front wheel speed sensor (C0516) on a G wire. A pulsed wheel speed signal is returned to the ABS module on a GN wire.
^ A feed is provided to the RH front wheel speed sensor (C0517) on a G wire. A pulsed wheel speed signal is returned to the ABS module on a GY wire.
^ A feed is provided to the LH rear wheel speed sensor (C0502) on a W wire. A pulsed wheel speed signal is returned to the ABS module on a WY wire.
^ A feed is provided to the RH rear wheel speed sensor (C0503) on a W wire. A pulsed wheel speed signal is returned to the ABS module on a WG wire.
By measuring the frequency of the returned signal, the ABS module can calculate the speed of each road wheel and act accordingly.
NOTE: The signal supplied by the wheel speed sensor also contains information to enable the ABS module to determine the direction of rotation.
Yaw Rate Sensor
The yaw rate sensor (C1656) is provided an ignition feed from fuse 37P of the CJB (C0583) on an LG wire. The sensor is connected to the ABS module (C0506) by a series of 5 wires as follows:
^ A yaw rate sensor signal is provided to the ABS module on a YB wire.
^ A yaw rate sensor ground is provided by the ABS module on a U wire.
^ A yaw rate sensor reference signal is provided to the ABS module on an R wire.
^ A yaw rate sensor test signal is provided by the ABS module on a YN wire.
^ A lateral acceleration signal is provided to the ABS module on a Y wire.
DSC Master Switch
The non-latching DSC master switch allows the DSC function and the ETC function to be selected off. When the switch is pressed, an ignition feed supplied by fuse 66P of the CJB is provided to the ABS module (C0506) on an R wire. When the ABS module receives this momentary feed it switches the DSC and ETC functions off.
HDC Master Switch
The HDC master switch is a non-latching switch. When the switch is pressed, an ignition feed supplied by fuse 66P of the CJB is provided to the ABS module (C0506) on a UB wire. When the ABS module receives this momentary feed it switches the HDC function off.
Diagnostic Socket
The ABS module can be interrogated by T4 via the diagnostic socket. The diagnostic socket (C0040) is connected to the ABS module (C0506) via the K line on an R wire.
