OPERATION
Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery (C0192) is supplied to fusible line 11E and fusible link 13E (C0632) on an R wire. Both are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB). Fusible link 13E (C0570) provides a constant battery feed to the rear differential control module (C2163) on a pair of PU wires. The control module (C2163) is provided a ground path on a pair of B wires.
Fusible link 11E (C0570) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire. When the ignition switch is in the 'ignition' position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 24P on a Y wire. Fuse 24P is located in the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0583) and provides an ignition feed to the rear differential control module (C2163) on an R wire.
Rear Differential Actuator
The rear differential actuator is mounted on the rear differential. The actuator contains a number of components to enable the rear differential control module control the amount of slip allowed through the rear differential.
Hall Effect Sensors
Two hall effect sensors are located within the actuator assembly. The rear differential control module (C2164) provides a feed to both sensors (C2168) on a G wire. A ground path is provided for the sensors via the control module on an N wire.
Hall sensor 'A' (C2168) provides a signal to the control module (C2164) on an S wire. This signal enables the control module to determine the direction in which the motor within the actuator assembly is running. Hall sensor 'B' provides a signal to the control module on an O wire. This signal enables the control module to determine the position of the motor (the amount of pressure it is applying to the differential clutch plates).
Motor
The motor within the rear differential actuator applies pressure to the differential clutch plates to control the amount of slip. To apply pressure, the rear differential control module (C2164) provides a feed to the motor (C2168) on an R wire. A ground path is provided via the control module on a U wire. To release pressure the feed to the motor is reversed. The control module provides a feed on a U wire, and a ground path via an R wire.
Motor Temperature Sensor
The control module (C2164) monitors the temperature of the motor by providing a reference feed to the temperature sensor (C2168) on a U wire. By measuring the voltage returned on a W wire. the control module can determine the temperature of the motor.
Differential Oil Temperature Sensor
The differential oil temperature sensor (C0269) is provided a reference feed by the rear differential control module (C2164) on an R wire. By measuring the voltage returned on a Y wire, the control module can determine the temperature of the oil within the rear differential.
