Satellite Digital Audio Receiver Service: 'HITS 1' Displayed While Channel '184' Plays - Repair Procedure

CONDITION SUMMARY:

NOTE:
The following issue will only occur when:

1. 'HITS 1' is stored as an SDARS preset, and

2. 'HITS 1' was selected / playing when the vehicle was last turned 'OFF'.

Situation:

When starting the vehicle after previously listening to the Satellite Digital Audio Receiver Service (SDARS) channel 'HITS 1', the display may highlight 'HITS 1' while channel '184', the weather station, is actually heard. When encountered, user selection of any preset returns the system to normal operation.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to configure the Satellite audio control module.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

CONFIGURE SATELLITE AUDIO CONTROL MODULE


CAUTION:
Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

CAUTION:
A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module programming.

NOTE:
When performing module software updates, if IDS displays 'no update required', select 'tick', then select 'X' in the pop-up window to abort the routine.

1. Connect the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.

NOTE:
IDS must be loaded with software release DVD 118.5 with Patch File 14 or later.

2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.

3. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.

4. When prompted 'Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?' select 'No'.

5. Select 'tick' to continue.

6. When Content Model is displayed, select the 'Vehicle Configuration' tab.

7. From the Vehicle Configuration menu, configure the Satellite audio control module by selecting:

^ 'Module programming' > 'Configure existing module' > 'Satellite audio control module'.

8. Follow all on-screen instructions until IDS displays the current and proposed software levels.

^ If 'Software update required' is displayed, select 'tick' to reconfigure the Satellite audio control module, following all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

^ If 'No update required' is displayed select 'tick', then select 'X' in the pop-up window to abort the routine; exit the current session.

9. When completed, IDS will return to the Vehicle Configuration menu.

10. Exit the current session.

11. Disconnect IDS and the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
