Lower Tailgate Paint Damage

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Range Rover Sport (LS)

CONDITION SUMMARY:

PAINT DAMAGE TO TOP EDGE OF LOWER TAILGATE

Situation:
A customer may report a concern of paint damage along the top, outer edge of the lower tailgate. The paint damage can be visible directly below the area where the plastic license plate lamp housing meets the edge of upper tailgate.

The license plate lamp housing can contact the lower tailgate when the upper tailgate is slammed closed.

Action:
Should a customer express this concern, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to install self-adhesive rubber buffers.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSTALL RUBBER BUFFERS

1. Note the location of the paint damage to the lower tailgate and repair the paint damage as necessary.

2. Note the location of the contact marks on the license plate lamp housing.

3. Clean the areas of license plate lamp housing where the contact marks were found to ensure the areas are free from dirt, dust and grease.

4. Ensure the housing is dry.





5. Install one self-adhesive rubber buffer (CZU000010) to the left side of the lamp housing at the location of the contact mark. (Figure 1)

6. Install one self-adhesive rubber buffer (CZU000010) to the right side of the lamp housing at the location of the contact mark. (Figure 1)
