Tie Rod: Service and Repair





Tie Rod End

Removal
1
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2 Remove the front wheel and tire.
3 Loosen the tie rod end locking nut.




4 Using the special tool release the tie rod end.
- Remove and discard the nut.

CAUTION: Note the number of turns when removing the tie rod end to aid installation.
Remove the tie rod end.
- Remove and discard the locking ring.

Installation
1 Install the tie rod end.
- Install the locking ring.
2 Secure the tie rod end.
Install new nuts.
- Tighten new nuts to 70 Nm (52 lb.ft).
3 Install the front wheel and tire.
- Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (103 lb.ft).
4 Check, and if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
